Reaper Bones Lizardmen

These lizards are speed painted using the Army Painter basic speedpaints.

I started by priming them black and then dry brushing them grey and then white.

Next, I base coated the miniatures using the speed paints, and then I used regular acrylics to add highlights and do cleanup.

Basically this is the Slap Chop method.

I would say each miniature took an hour which is fast for me.....

Grenadier Armored Dwarf with Great Axe

This is an odd mini I found in one of my boxed sets..maybe adventurers. Not my greatest work but I had to keep up the painting momentum.

I used Reaper metallics which I tried to water down. I tinted the plate armor blue. Next time I will try Navy Blue dry bryshed with metals to see if that comes out more smooth.

Grenadier AD&D Druid with Sling

This is a druid from the Grenadier Boxed set 2013 Adventuring Party.  Overall I am happy with him and will add him to the Grenadier adventuring team.

He is called Snow-slinging Druid which baffles me.  Instead of snow in his sling...I gave him metal bullets for better damage.  Snow?  I don't see how that would do anything to most enemies...

Here is the back of him.  The hat he is wearing is interesting to me...he looks like a Cossack. The hair is the weak point in the paint job....it is a tough color to work with.

Reaper Bones Pirate Captain

Forgive the bad picture..my phone stinks. This is a cool miniature pirate captain I painted a few months ago.

I use prescription bottle tops as holders...isn't that wild?

The sword is real metal paint...the buckles are nonmetallic metal.

Reaper Bones Troll

Here's a Reaper Bones Troll.   This mini has been painted for a few years and like the bugs has never made it up here until now.  It collected a lot of dust and had to be touched up.

I call him a Tongue Troll.  He is a fairly crazy looking monster that would likely scare the (&*@ out of most adventurers...

I spent a lot of time trying to blend the lighter skin on the underside of the hands and on the knuckles with the darker skin.  The Tongue was fun to paint and coat with gloss .

Here is a final shot from the other side.   Overall a cool miniature.  If I had to do it again , I would do more contrasting colors on this one...perhaps the back scales or moss would be much more contrasting.

Grenadier AD&D Charging Warrior

This mini in the middle  must have come from the bits

bin at my local game store 4 years ago.  I finally got around to painting him up.  He now joins the other Grenadier AD&D brave souls!!!

I spent a lot of time trying to get a clean look on the different sections of this guy. These old Grenadier minis are hard to get right.

Here is another group shor of my AD&D minis from Grenadier. There are some adventurers, hirelings, and fighters!!

Norien, Female Magic User

This is Norien. She came out of my Grenadier AD&D boxed set called adventuring party. I do not know what she is holding so I painted it in non metallic metal Silver.

I assume she is casting a spell here.

She had a really old coat of primer from the 80s on her. I tried painting over it and that was a mistake. I should have stripped all the old primer off and then painted her. Her face was really tough for me to paint oh, and I actually had to do it twice to get it to where I liked it.

Anyways, it is fun to try and make these old Grenadier Miniatures look good. It's also nice to get the lead pile smaller.

Reaper Bones Bugs

Below are a couple of Bones miniatures that have been painted for several years but never posted.  I love painting monsters...and weird ones even more.  The first one is  an Ankheg, a kind of large burrowing bug you hope to never find in your garden...

Farmers and gardeners in all fantasy worlds fear these creatures the most...

This next one is a Charnel Grub...which I assume is kind of a baby carrion crawler?   Nature's dungeon cleaners I say.

Ral Partha Gremlin

Here is another Ral Partha mini from the collection. Thus little guy is a gremlin, and I painted him up to look like one of the gremlins in the movie.

Ral Partha Chaotic War Dragon and Rider

I don't think this miniature was ever shown here, even though it is was painted 4 or so years ago.  I recently dusted it off using a soft brush to make it presentable.

I found this mini in a bits bin at a local game shop years ago...what a great find.

Two Reaper Bones Barrow Rats and my Metal Mini Display Case

I finished another Bones Barrow Rat a few weeks ago to complete the set.  He's staring right at you.

These things are sinister looking and the size of a large dog.  I think they could take down an adventurer easily.

Also....the display case for metal miniatures is getting full...

Reaper Bones Eye Beast

This miniature has been broken and lost for five years. The mouth came apart from the head and I could not find the two pieces until recently when I actually cleaned the bedroom.

My son originally painted it in a purple and orange configuration so I kept that style, and with his permission repainted it.

There are a lot of variations of this model out there on the internet. You will find a lot of different color schemes and people have done some really cool stuff with it.

Old Ral Partha Ogre 2

Here's another old Ral partha ogre miniature. I think this was sculpted by Bob Olley who seems to have a large fan base, particularly in Britain.

I used basic colors on this guy. Lots of Browns and  rusted metal, dark gray and black. I just figure an ogre is probably not going to look too flashy.

Welcome to the team Mr. Krondor
